Tempered glass is a type of safety glass that is processed by controlled heat treatment or chemical treatment to increase its strength compared to ordinary glass. Tempering puts the outer surface in a compressed state and the inner surface in a stretched state. Tempered glass is used for a variety of safety applications as in case tempered glass breaks it will shatter into tiny particles that are far less likely to cause injuries when compared to normal glass that breaks into jagged pieces with sharp edges.
